And if you're looking for a scenic spot to sup your pint and order some bar nibbles, then Manchester and Cheshire have an abundance.
Here, we list some of the amazing beer gardens at pubs across the region that are well worth a trip to visit – be they with canalside terraces, stunning grounds or even one nestled in a lavender field.
While most pubs are taking some walk-ins over the next few weeks of solely outdoor trade (until May 17 when it is expected indoor hospitality can resume), it's always best to check ahead and book with a venue if you're making a special trip out.
Worsley Old Hall, Worsley The landscaped gardens of Worsley Old Hall (Image: Worsley Old Hall) Glorious gardens, with the architectural gem of Worsley Old Hall as the backdrop. Not surprising that this has been a popular destination now that outdoor hospitality has resumed. Owners have taken advantage of their vast outdoor space with lots of seating this summer. Some tables are kept back for walk-ins, but booking is recommended.

Bells of Peover, near Knutsford Bells of Peover, near Knutsford (Image: Bells of Peover) This hidden gem of a pub in the chocolate box village of Lower Peover in Cheshire boasts stunning manicured gardens with a wealth of different seating options.
All bookable tables come with the option of shelter, while more seating will be available for walk-ins on a daily basis.

The Kings Ransom, Sale The King's Ransom in Sale (Image: Submitted) A splendid canalside setting makes this one of Sale's most popular pubs, and a brilliant stop off if you're walking down the canal path.

Its secluded hillside location boasts an array of outdoor seating that looks out across rolling countryside, which you can book in advance and they are also accepting some walk-ins. If you're heading out this way in the sunshine, the huge Cheshire Ice Cream Farm is five minutes down the road as well.

The Waterside, Monton The Waterside bar in Monton (Image: Submitted) With a prime spot next to the Bridgewater Canal in Monton, it's a fantastic spot for drinks and food at Crompton's at The Waterside.
Live the 'Monton Carlo' life as the barges pass by – and there's also a lovely view of the quirky little Monton Lighthouse too.

The Station, Irlam The Station, Irlam (Image: The Station Irlam) If you fancy a quirkier option, then head to the terrace at The Station at Irlam where you can watch as the trains chug by as well as admire the vintage full-sized steam engine on site.
Serving a full menu of food and drinks daily (and until 10pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays), booking is advised but they are accepting walk-ins.

Swettenham Arms, near Congleton The lavender field at Swettenham Arms (Image: Swettenham Arms) Far from the madding crowds, right in the heart of Cheshire, you'll find the Swettenham Arms, near Congleton which boasts its own lavender field.
Famed for its pub grub, they've now extended their outdoor seating options so you can dine and drink right next to the lavender. It's also right next to the stunning Lovell Quinta Arboretum for those who enjoy a nature walk before or after their pub visit.

Nutters, Rochdale Nutters' outdoor dining (Image: Nutters) Famed for its fine dining, Nutters restaurant in Rochdale has turned its sprawling outdoor gardens into a giant beer garden to accommodate the boom in outdoor trade over the coming weeks.
Offering live music in the evenings, tables are available for drinking and/or dining – with a range of new Nutters' nibbles available.

The Bridge, Prestbury The Bridge, Prestbury (Image: The Bridge) Backing on to the River Bollin in the pretty village of Prestbury, the Bridge offers a fantastic series of chic garden 'rooms' for outdoor drinks and dining. including one area that is riverside.
Booking is highly recommended, although some tables will be kept aside for walk-ins on a first come first served basis.

Eagle and Child, Ramsbottom Eagle and Child in Ramsbottom (Image: Eagle and Child) It has just been named one of the best beer gardens in the country by the Big 7 Travel site, who praised its impressive edible garden and stunning views of Ramsbottom town centre and the Peel Tower.
However, revellers will have to wait a little longer to enjoy its charms, as the owners have decided not to reopen until the next stage of lockdown restrictions easing from May 17.
